Atlas Sewing Machine Serial Numbers
Dec 5, 2012 - Thanks to Singer's recent 160th anniversary celebration, I was able to pinpoint my antique machine's model year by entering its serial number.
This Rare Vintage Good Housekeeper machine is model 492. This is an all metal machine so it's pretty heavy. Was made in Japan. This machine will fit in any Singer table or desk. It has been cleaned and oiled.
Performs excellent. Makes very clean stitches. This machine is a true workhorse. It has a very strong 1.3amp motor.
Feed downs can be raised or lowered for quilting or tackling and project. Also strong enough to stitch light leather. This machine is a gem to a new learner or seasoned sewist.
Has 4 different level of zig zag stitching. This is an awesome machine. It will complement any home/class or shop. Very clean machine. Make it your today!

Tested and working great. This is one of the late 50's machines made in Japan. It is very clean with only minor marks from use. It comes with a nice original case. Please look at the pics carefully and email with questions!

February 13, 2007 0 found this helpful That is nice that you are going to practice and teach yourself, I did.however, you WOULD find the manual very helpful, even though machines are somewhat alike, when there is a difference, there is a difference and you need the manual. I would call a local repair shop and ask them where on the machine you could locate the Model and Serial # and then work from there.ask again on here and do a Google search for sewing machine manuals.
If you can find the company, they may be helpful. I got a very, very nice used Viking, minus the manual and the company copied and mailed me free of charge the majority of the pages to the manual.which I truly needed.
Also, find a friend who sews and use her brain, that is what I did with several friends.
